Normally I don't care, but this was surprising. I always use a case and will without a doubt with this phone.

Made me wince just watching that. Ouch. I've been using a military grade case on my phones (Ghostek) because I am a klutz and I have dropped my Note 20 Ultra on concrete and ceramic tile. Not a scratch on the phone but it always make my heart stop when it happens.

What I liked about this drop test is it is different from most. It is just a 5'8" dude dropping it from waist high as it would happen in the wild.

Oh shout out to this guy, he explains it. Gorilla Glass is tested and proven to work only at a certain thickness. But to meet consumer demands for thinner devices companies (like Samsung) will ask to have the glass cut down, making the glass much easier to break. Interesting.

Yes. Corning testing at .8 mm in those videos. No way the screens on these phones are .8 mm thick.

Also Corning test flat glass sheets and even providing a firm mounting basically bracing the glass will help in strength while these Samsung curved screens. Also to give shape to these screens they are heated and annealed so who knows if the strength has been retained after the heating.

And then on top of that the rear glass you have 5 holes cut into the glass now instead of a rectangle to house the cameras. Just how strong is that back glass with 5 holes in it when it takes a good whack?

Man, the lens caps couldn't even take a wack and the one just completely blew out and guessing it did so by getting whacked on the bezel of that lens cap and not hitting the glass directly.

But of course this is without a case.... who is really going to go caseless??

Yikes! This is hard to watch!!

I'm typically very careful with my phones but the damage in this video from such a short drop - albeit, said drop was on concrete - makes me wonder if I should have gone ahead and gotten the protection plan just in case LOL

My case has been sitting on my kitchen table for weeks.

Spigen Tough Armor.

I dropped my Note 9 from waist high with Spigen Tough Armor case this morning in grocery store parking lot.

IMO these drop test videos are useless. This is why there are so many cases available. I go naked in my home, and slap a case whenever I go out.
Glass is glass, and glass breaks. Especially if you purposely drop them onto cement.
