Hello all. I'm a regular on here usually meddling in the Hero/Evo forums.
I've been using a cross platform software that works great virtually making something like mobileme useless. Its a desktop and web client that you can use to sync files between your computers, phone (Android phones work just fine through the browser and not on the mobile site, not a lot of graphics to bog it down), and with other members. You get 2GB of storage out the gate, which is pretty good, but you can increase it by 250mb, by doing their tutorial, and for each member you refer someone (up to 8GB).
Its totally free. You can check it out and if you are interested, please PM me with an e-mail addy so I can get some more storage, if you're not comfy with that, I won't be offended and I figure I'd put their service out there for you all to check out. Thanks in advance. I've been using it for a month and its great.

Hey rufflez!

I haven't really used any kind of file sync apps before, so I have to ask: what is it generally good for? I mean, I get that you can sync files up to the cloud, then load them on your phone or PC, but in what kind of situation is that handy? The way I do things, I've set up a lightweight FTP server on my desktop PC, that's what I use to copy files to and from my phone (and notebook) over Wi-Fi (Ethernet). This way, I don't need to bother with USB cables and mounting the SD card, and I don't use up my limited 3G data.

Well, its been helpful for me as a student with 2 computers (mac and pc)
I like doing my work on my pc because it is attatched to a 32" TV right now. I just drag the file to this folder and its instantly available on my macbook for when I go to class. Its pretty easy to use when you get the hang of it. The reason i started it was so a friend could share 12 videos (in a series). with the 2GB+250mb given, you can get 3 700mb avi's at a time and they download at a decent speed (for the internet connections I have here). My friend could see my progress then automatically upload the next three when they were done, and i unshared the previous files.

I'm a huge fan of Dropbox. I'm a teacher and often will write or edit assignments at home. I keep all of my class assignments in a Dropbox folder, which syncs to the cloud then to my computer at work. So not only are those files instantly available at school, but there are multiple backups of them in multiple places!

I've been using Dropbox for a while now, and I love it. Unfortunately, there is still no Android client for it.

However, there is a Sugarsync client for Android, and so far it works great. I have both installed on my Mac, but I am thinking of going to just SS going forward if Dropbox doesn't have Android support soon. Sugarsync does have some advantages; namely, where Dropbox has a specific sync folder that it uses, Sugarsync allows you to choose folders to sync anywhere on your PC.

To Foxman, some advantages:

1. Obviously, off site backup of critical files. If you lose your PC, have a fire that destroys both your computer and your backups, you have an online location where you can have important data backed up at all times.

2. Sync if you have or use multiple PCs.

3. Dropbox has versioning for files going back for 30 days. If you change a document and realize that you changed the wrong one, you can go back to a prior version.

You can get a 2 GB syncing account for free to try it out.

Thanks for the info everyone! I also did some research of my own, I think I'm going to try this, it looks promising. Maybe this is something I never knew I needed... Wouldn't be the first thing I haven't heard of before, that turned out awesome after I tried it.

I also have a couple of referrals left. I have like 5gb of storage on Dropbox, which is more than enough for me. Every once in a while I get a an extra 250mb from a post on another site, but still have some left. So ya if ya want the space, feel free to ask for my referral code. I don't wanna step on the OP's toes tho, so please use his first. Just throwing the offer out there if more referrals are needed.

*Edit* Oh and not sure if it's been mentioned, but an "official" Dropbox app is in the works and should be available pretty soon, from what I read a few weeks ago. I have bee using using Dropbox by Sendroid Inc, available on the market for free, for awhile and it works really well to view my Dropbox doc's. Force Closes every time I close the app, and only when I want to close the app, so its not really an issue.

There is no Android client, but the website is pretty non-graphical (white background like these forums) and pull up fast on the phone. You can download files no problem straight from the browser.
