Dropped Call Issues?

I just got the S6 Edge for my wife wednesday night. Today she is informing me that she is having multiple dropped calls with the phone. Is this common, is anyone else having issues? We are on Sprint and have never had dropped call issues before. I just wanted to poll the masses before I call sprint about it. Thanks.

If Sprint, has HD voice or advanced calling, I would disable this. I am on Verizon, and I had to do this as well. I was getting horrible reception with it on. Once I turned it off, I haven't had any further issues with reception.

Sent from the EDGE of the Galaxy S6 edge!

I was going to post this about AT&T as well. I even thought I may be hanging up because the screen turned on. Dropping calls sitting in my house where I never have.

Ditto on Verizon. Worst reception I've had on a phone on Verizon in awhile. It switches to 3G in places none of my other VoLTE enabled phones have, and calls over VoLTE start cutting out if the signal is even remotely on the weaker end of the spectrum. It feels similar to when LTE was first released in 2011, to be honest. I have two S6's and they both are behaving the same.

I just got off the phone with Samsung. They called AT&T while I was on the phone. The Feature must be turned off by AT&T in order to fix the problem. You must call AT& T tech support, they will turn off the feature and you will have to reboot your phone.

I'm on the Verizon network with the S6 Edge. I have dropped multiple calls since switching to this phone from the Iphone 5s. I called Verizon and being that I'm at day 13, they recommended that I get a different device. I'm going back to Iphone because I never had this problem. I was advised that it's samsung in general, their phones do not work properly everywhere. I'm so disappointed.

I was having the same FRUSTRATING issue, but I did a full factory reset and the problem disappeared, along with getting better battery life and smoother transmissions.. Give it a try

I am on an S6e on AT&T and drop ALL my calls, and get complaints of garbled calls. I have talked to tech support and they do not have any solutions.

Are you using wifi calling or VoLTE?

Verizon is aware of the HD voice/video feature being the culprit of the dropped calls, they are blaming Samsung for not pushing an update to correct the problem. Meanwhile Samsung has said that the feature is a Verizon software. I was told by their tech support that it has been reported that there's a 50% dropped call increase using the galaxy S6 while having the HD voice/video feature on, this was 2 weeks ago. The agent said they have a search tool like Google search, this is internal and that's where he found this information.

You can not make calls and surf the web without the HD voice/video feature on, but turning this feature off will STOP THE DROPPED calls. Verizon's software side for galaxy S6 does not allow you to make calls on the 4G LTE network when the HD voice/video feature off, instead is shows 1x.

I have been in touch with Verizon wireless tech support for the last 3 weeks now, this past week Verizon has been sending me texts to update me on the progress of my ticket. I've had Samsung tech support in conference call with Verizon tech support; during this call that lasted more than 3 hours Verizon admitted that it wasn't a Samsung problem but Verizon's. As soon as the tech from Samsung hanged up the call because we were told that I would have to call their engineering department to further assist us. Before the Samsung tech agent hung up the call we had asked if I could make calls using the 4G LTE and was told to hold up while he researched this question. As soon as the Samsung tech agent left the conference call the Verizon tech answered no, and proceeded to make a complete 360 on answers he gave prior to the Samsung agent leaving the call, saying that the problem was not a Verizon but Samsung problem, even though moments before he said that it wasn't a Samsung problem to me and the Samsung tech support agent but Verizon's. I was also advised by the Verizon tech agent that if I wanted to, I could JAIL BRAKE my Galaxy S6 and download a software to disable the HD voice/video feature without losing the 4G LTE but that it probably still won't work properly. I told this agent that I've never jail broken a device and don't plan on because this is clearly a Verizon feature not working properly.

Not even 5 minutes after ending the call with Verizon's tech support, a supervisor from Verizon called me to tell me again that this is a Samsung issue not Verizon, he said that Samsung needs to push a SW version update to fix the problem with the HD voice calls dropping. He asked what I wanted, I said to get the Galaxy S5 and return this phone, but that I was told by 2 different stores (Rockville Centre NY, and Merrick NY both in Long Island) that if I wanted to return this phone or exchange for a different one I would be charged a 40% restocking fee even though I was within my 14 days. I was told by the tech before the supervisor called that it was at each store's discretion whether they charged you a restocking fee or not. I was told to consider this mater resolved by the supervisor, that they will get in touch with the store so I can return the phone and if in fact there are any fees I would be refunded in some sort of credit; but all I've received all of last week is text messages letting me know they are still working on my ticket.

I had my S6 Edge for 14-days with 1 or 2 dropped calls, and am on AT&T. One thing I've learned is the carrier will blame the manufacturer and vice versa, and I tend to believe the manufacturer first.

I was with Verizon before switching to AT&T and, in both cases, had limited dropped or missed calls. I returned my S6 Edge for another one because of device 'glitches' I and others experienced with me device.

Yes. In fact, I found your posting because I was experiencing this issue and Googled it. It is a VERY bad situation...

I just called AT&T support and they disabled the 4glte hd calling for me and now I have the ability to turn it on or off under mobile networks then mobile data. This seems to have fixed the issue, just remember you have to call in if your with AT&T to get the ability to disable this feature.

It is not necessary to call ATT at all. I'm on ATT and turned it off in the settings menu. Fixed cell standby battery issues and dropped calls.

yes, I am experiencing the same. I thought it was SPRINT issue so I went to AT&T and same issue. Samsung S6 Edge is dropping calls.

These drop calls are costing me alot of business. I am missing out on money and Sprint is not doing anything. I want to know who would be willing to go in with me on a class action law suit. I spent $900 cash on this phone so no I am not willing to pay out of pocket for a new one. I am completely frustrated and have contacted my lawyer. Who's with me?

Which feature?

I had the same problems with my phone. I have Verizon I called them I also spent hours talking they even replaced my phone with a brand new one didn't fix it. Turned off enhanced calling feature under advanced calling in the settings menu. Haven't had any more problems and can't tell the difference in sound quality.
Good luck
