AC Question

Hi, I dropped my samsung s5 port open in the toilet for less than two seconds, then quickly opened it removed the battery and dried it with a towel. I naively thought my phone had survived.... It worked for the next 5 hours perfecly fine. I plugged the charger and when i came back it wouldn't open!!! I have now put in in rice.. Is my phone dead? Can i still save it with the rice?? HELP

Welcome to the forums. Just drying with a towel is not sufficent. You did exactly the right thing taking the battery out, but you should have then put it in rice for at least 24 hours. At this point the phone may be gone. You can try the rice again, but usually after applying power it's too late. Sorry.

Sounds like moisture got into it and charging it killed it. Should of been left in rice a minimum of 24 hours, you can try leaving it in rice, it may revive but isn't likely if damage was already done.

If your technically skilled at all the S5 was easy to take apart, you could try cleaning the corosion out of it. I've done this using electronics cleaner and an old tooth brush to fix an old S3 and some other Samsung prepaid phone once. It revived both phones.

Update: (i'm the one who dropped the phone) so i put it in rice for a few hours (before seeing the replies) this time it responded to the charger so i figured some life may still be left in it and let it charge to see if it would work without the charger. Indeed it opened up and seemed to work perfectly... again i'm probably dumb for thinking so... i went to charge it again and when removing the charger the screen glitched in a weird way, also it wouldn't charge while on... i will put it in rice until tomorrow and pray

Oh my.... is my phone done for? If I bring it to the store can they fix it? I remember when I bought it they said at the store it was water resistant and the seller had the same phone, said she once dropped it in the toilet and it still works...

Update: I took my phone out of the rice to check the water damage stickers and they were still white both on the phone and battery itself. Is this a good sign or not? Should I still leave my phone in the rice overnight?
