The camera set-up looks promising if it's anything like that of the Huawei P9, whose colour and black-and-white sensors, variable-aperture effect and Leica optics have won the hearts of photography buffs. Whether the 8's camera specs are exactly the same is as yet uncertain, but I for one like the look of this.

It will be interesting if this was the step HTC tried to make but stumbled a bit.

Hopefully the speed of opening the camera and snapping photos is close to some of the big boys that are twice as expensive. The lack of OIS is a little bit of a bummer.

Many think that the Leica branding was just that, an exercise in branding to stir up buzzwords and media coverage. Whether this is true is of some debate, but it is entirely possible that Huawei decided to skip the branding to save costs on the Honor 8 while still including high-quality cameras.

Early reviews have pointed out that the depth-of-field measurements from the dual cameras improve stabilization quite a bit, though still not the the degree that OIS does.
