Dual Gmail Accounts on HTC HERO

Hello All!

I am new to Android and to the forums. I picked up my Hero from Best Buy on last Friday and its definitely a keeper.

I am coming from the Palm Pre, which I'm also keeping because I think Palm did a helluva job on the OS and I will be using it for my work phone.

Back to the Hero though. On my Palm through the email application I was able to set up more than one Gmail account.

Being that there is an actual Gmail application on the Hero is there a way to setup more than one Gmail account? Right now from what I can gather you can only use one and the other option is to use an Exchange account, through the same application.

I have a Gmail account synced to only pick up contacts and I would like to set another one up just to sync emails. Gmail has a nasty habit of adding people to my contact list which is why I want to sync a seperate account just for its emails, the Gmail Application. It would take way too long to clean out those extra contacts and quite annoying.

I noticed the email application offered by the phone, but I don't think it does threaded messaging like the Gmail application, which really defeats the purpose for me, because the Gmail account I want to sync gets about 100 - 200 emails daily.

What I do is I have my primary gmail account for my phone and I configured the POP3 settings for it to pick up emails from my other gmail account. It isn't as fast, depending on the POP3 settings, but works for having two email addresses in one email view.

Hey thanks for responding. The HTC Mail application is great, but it does not thread messages and for my main gmail account that is not a good thing.

I am going to download HTC Sync tonight and sync my contacts from Outlook and use to the Gmail App on the account with email account and forgo syncing those contacts if I can.

My only issue now is trying to figure out how to change the Gmail account I used to intially sync contacts I've been playing around with the settings but I haven't found that option.

EDIT: So the HTC Email Application can thread converstions. I much prefer the Gmail Application, but this is going to do exactly what I need it to do.
