Dumb newb ? about themeing.

Hey guys. I'm still a nub to some of this. I've used several themes now adn almost each one of them has something I like and don't like. Takign what I have, can I replace certain things individually. I've read that I can do this alone by zipping through cwm. But can I update a theme take for instance I like the dialer from Blue Midnight, and the MMS from blue midnight, but I like the framework of black alien mashup better. Can I just replace the certain things in the theme and flash?

The only way I know to do that is by extracting the zip, replacing the apks you want and then rezipping it all. Or you could flash the theme and then rename and replace the apks you choose. Do it at your own risk, though...

Kinda what I was thinking, I've done a whole hell of a lot of reading the last few weeks since my phones came in, I sometimes confuse myself and over extrapolate everything. I'm going to be Kang Banging 2.0 in a few minutes with Black Alien, which has been my favortiest theme so far. I ran into a few issues the first time aorund, and I think it had more to do with layering themes then anything else. We'll see. Going OTB 1.5, might go to 1.6 later, From what I'm seeing there's been no issues with it yet, will do the -50 by hand.

You can move themed .apk's (phone dialer, mms) around. You cannot move framework around, it's a force close sandwich.

If you have a functioning set up now go into CWM and create a backup.

If your on Black alien now good, if not flash that as your theme (you want the framework from it)

Give me a little time and I'll link you up to the blue midnight .apk's that your looking for. (might be later today : ) as I am at my paying job ...

These are the apk's you'll want

Dialertabactivity.apk

DialerTabActivityBM.apk

Phone.apk

PhoneBM.apk

MMS.apk

MmsBM.apk

You'll need to install these using ROOT EXPLORER. I have renamed all the .apk's to include the BM at the end of the name. You'll want to rename them (remove BM from name) before you copy and paste them to you system/app of your phone.

Are you familiar with using root explorer?

This was specific to the swype.apk but, just substitute the .apk's above for swype.apk in the steps and you'll be golden. No need to download the libswypecore.co file.
