During a call...

I talked to my girlfriend on the phone for about an hour today. During that time I learned the following about this phone. While talking you cannot use the screen off memo, nor do you receive notifications from SMS or Facebook messenger. Anyone know how to fix this? Talking on the phone is important at my job and I don't wanna miss text messages from anyone. I need to hear something while on the phone via Bluetooth that keys me know I have a text or Facebook message.

Must be something in your settings, I get notified of msgs & am able to do screen off memo while talking on the phone. Maybe in the Bluetooth settings?... Good luck

Check your message app settings. I use Textra and there is a setting that allows notification sound while on a call. It's a quiet sound while on the call.

I am able to receive texts and Facebook notifications whole on a call. I was talking to TMobile today and they had to send me a text message and I received it during the call

I can't find the setting within Facebook messenger that allows sounds to be played during a call.

I know if the phone is using CDMA you can't get data when you are on call. Are you by chance using Verizon or Sprint and in an area where there isn't LTE and falling back to CDMA? Assuming you are in the US. I can't think otherwise why you aren't getting data while on call because if you are on LTE or GSM that should work perfectly fine.

I'm getting the notifications on my phone, I'm just not getting the sound. This wasn't a problem on my Pixel XL at all.

I'm on Tmobile with great service.

Open the phone app, goto Settings -> Call Alerts.
Make sure the option "Notify during calls" is enabled.
