My thoughts are that DXOMark haven't been relevant in over 5 years.
Yeah, that's what I've read too. I do respect some of their samples, as they involve pictures of people in not so great lighting, but some of their rationale is still purely subjective.

I don't particularly care about score the phone gets on dxomark, but I do take issue with the camera this time round. What used to be the best aspect of the Pixel line, now to me has some issues which I'm really not happy with.

I use portrait mode all the time and for some reason the phone doesn't have 1x portrait mode. It has 1.5x-3x and I find the portrait mode hasn't really gotten better from previous Pixels I've used. It still messes up hair and glasses frames and if someone has their hand on their hip, it doesn't blue the gap between their arm and body. I find the Galaxy does the portrait cutouts a lot better and allows 1x portraits.

Take a regular picture and then go into the photo app and use portrait blur.. It's perfect for your scenario,
