Greetings all. I am helping a friend troubleshoot his Droid X. The issue that he is having is that his gmail and hotmail account are not syncing at all. He has it set for 15 minutes to pull down e-mail but is not able to receive them. He has auto sync on and also has it set to push his e-mail. He said that in order to get e-mail he has to restart his phone and then he sees the icon that is syncing but it does not pull down all of his e-mail. After the phone boots it does not sync his e-mail again until he reboots his phone, then the same process happens. I am looking for ideas as to how to get this fixed. Any input is appreciated.

Sometimes Google syncing is experiencing problems and causes delays in getting emails. Tap on sync now to refresh the system.. most time after experiencing problems the syncing process is temporary frozen - and usually unfreeze itself after a while. Usually a restart shoud suffice, or you would have to manually tap sync now. Menu -settings - accounts and sync(maybe a little different on other devices) then tap sync now.

Note: Google sync is currently experiencing temporary problems.

rushrl - Even when he taps sync now he is still unable to sync e-mail. The only time he is able to get any e-mail is right after a phone restart and that is not even a guarantee. He has deleted the accounts and re-created them with the same results. This has been going on for sometime.

droiddev - we are looking at those steps just to make sure we did them all I will report back.

Update: droiddev I had him check into all of those settings and they are on. Any other ideas?

Bummer, Wow, that is something. Hmm! I know that Google is experiencing some syncing problems at this time, but that shouldn't stop sync now from working. Usually of those troubleshooting should have work.

Tell your friend to take the phone in for a diagnosis. This sounds like the phone itself could be at fault.

Let me asked you a question - Is the phone modified in any way?

The phone has not been modified in any way shape or form. He is running stock 2.2 not rooted. No hardware or software mods or hacks. When you say reboot I am assuming you mean a completely shut the phone off and restart it and yes he has. The only way he can get e-mail is by completely shutting off of the phone and turning it on and that is not always a guarantee.

A Reboot is powering the device off.. press and hold down both the power and volume down button until a white screen appear. Follow steps on how to reboot boatloader, or Reboot phone.

Reminder : None of these procedure will erase any data off the phone. If you're still having issues after -I would recommend your friend to take the phone in for repair or a replacement ..

Good luck.
