So I don't use my phone much for calling and when I usually do its normally somewhere with a lot of background noise. Recently I have been taking quite a few calls while I was in a quiet room and noticed the horrible buzz, static noises coming from the earpiece. Even when I'm not in a call I can here these noises coming from the earpiece, it even sounds like a dial up connection. I'm not sure what to do now as it is really annoying me when I'm in a call and I can remember that there was no such noise when I had my first nexus 4 (this is my second). Should I get it RMA'd?

My call is fine. No static noise. But there is static noise when I'm not on call too. Only happen when I click on apps on the screen. No idea what's going on.

I could live with the static noise not affecting my phone calls as I would never have the phone that close to my ear anyway unless I was in a call.

I would suggest don't settle it. Just get a replacement if you can't. It won't hurt as long as you are not too busy, and willing to give them a call.

I would get a replacement but I dont know if the problem will be fixed in the replacement.. and I could end up with a even worse phone than I have now.

You won't and you don't need to worry about that. You can ask the replacement shipped to you first, and tell them that you are going to decide which one you want to return back to them. That's how I did

with my replacement. It's shipped today, and I will update my result. You are absolutely correct. Replacement can definitely be worst. However, you can keep both phone first ( the one you have now, and

the replacement). do a side by side comparison, and decide which one you want to ship back to them. You don't need to pay the shipping label too. (I assume you bought it at Google...?)

Thanks for the suggestion, never thought of that. Yh I did buy it from Google, what happened to your phone?

Just to update you my replacement.

Before my replacement, My phone signal is poor although no dropping call. I will have a blank triangle when I was at outside. I will have data connectivity drop when I surfing the web, or use apps that

require internet access. My earpiece buzz too although not severe. and like everyone else, when shaking the phone, you can heard loosing sound. My battery drain crazy too due to the poor signal.

I just got my replacement today, so I immediately change my phone to the replacement one. I compared the box first. My previous box is 301K, my replacement box is 302K. Phone look exactly the same

I especially check the camera lens, some ppl has different camera len shape when got the replacement. After I check both phone are identical, I just put my sim card into the replacement, and start using

it. and everything when well. no buzz sound, signal is great. definitely no drop of data connectivity.

301k means 2013. and january, 302k is for february etc. that doesn't have anything to do with cell phone itself I assume
