Earpiece problem

Hey All,

I was wondering if anyone is having issues with their earpiece after the update to Oreo. My Pixel XL has sounded really bad during calls after the Oreo update through the earpiece but not via Bluetooth.

Has anyone else had this issue? Is it something that a FDR would fix? Or do I need to get ahold of Google to try and get a replacement?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I have had two separate XLs do the same thing over an update. Wasn't Oreo though. Factory reset didn't fix anything and the earpiece ended up getting worse over time. I ended up getting a replacement for Google

I was having an issue with my Pixel XL, where my earpiece would cut out completely and sporadically during a call. I could hear the caller, but the caller couldn't hear me. If I switched to speakerphone, then back to earpiece, it would fix only until it cut out again. This could happen multiple times during one phone conversation. I called Google, and was told to wait on 8.1 update and, if that didn't solve the problem, to try a factory reset. None of those troubleshooting "fixes" worked.

At my wits end, I decided to try something. I went into Setting>Battery, opened the Menu in the top right >Optimization, ran a filter for "Optimized" and turned off optimization for my phone, phone services, etc., and all of my Bluetooth services. So far, fingers crossed, haven't had any issues during calls.
