I'm brand new to android switching over from iPhone, and so far, setting up the phone has been a fat headache for me. the biggest ancontacts right now is managing contacts

So hopefully many of you hardcore android folks can help me out :)

So setting up my new one x and setting up the basics, I somehow made a huge mistake by syncing Facebook and my gmail accounts with my contacts. So now I have 700 contacts, with about 500 that mean nothing to me or are duplicates.

Is there an easier way to unsync my gmail and Facebook contacts with my phone contacts besides rebooting and starting all over?

This is a good question that I would like to know the answer to as well.

One option you could do Metal is to just sort your contacts based on where the information is stored. Try tapping in the upper-left in the people app to sort through the contacts.

I hope this basic explanation helps.

First, remove the face book account from Account and Sync.
Then go into settings / Apps, find face book (there are usually more than one) and clear its settings, cache and data. (You will have to re-add it later).

Then use the suggestions above to sort contacts by source and delete them.
Set your phone to store its contacts ONLY on Google Contacts.
Log in on your computer to Contacts.google.com and clean up the mess there, its easier to do it on line. Any changes you make there will sync to your phone.

You might want to think twice about using anything except the web interface to Facebook. Its known that their app leaks all your contacts back to facebook.

You can also tell the phone to delete any dupicate contacts so you dont have to.

Go into the menu......u will find the option there.
