Yep, you can pretty much since that the easiest phone to root will always be a Nexus. Not only are they always unlocked, they are usually the main reference device for all the devs.

Also, there is an app called king root that can easily root your device with 1 tap. Most popular devices are supported. Be carefull about using it! Its from a chinese company and im sure they will collect data from your phone.

Xiaomi and nexus phone can also be rooted easily. For xiaomi phones, there is a dev firmware available for download at their website which roots xiaomi phones without loosing warranty. (CMIIW)

What is the general opinion of the LG V10?

On the sidenote, Xiaomi phones will soon have locked bootloaders and the unlocking process is pretty hectic.
Basically, the process will take up to 10 days. Which i think is a bit too much....
