Hello,

Before buying a second-hand Android smartphone that I'd like to migrate later to a custom ROM once it's no longer supported by the manufacturer… is there a simple way for non-techies to check if its bootloader can be unlocked?

Thank you.

I Googled, is there a root solution for the S24 Ultra, and got the following response with tips and other information that could be helpful.

Yes, a root solution for the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra exists, primarily through the use of Magisk. This involves patching the device's boot image and flashing it using a tool like Odin. However, rooting voids the warranty and can lead to potential issues with banking apps and some Samsung features.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

  1. Preparation: You'll need the latest firmware zip for your S24 Ultra, Odin, and Magisk.
  2. Patching: The boot image (BL and AP files within the firmware) is patched with Magisk.
  3. Flashing: The patched boot image is flashed using Odin, typically in Download mode.
  4. TWRP (Optional): Some users also install TWRP, a custom recovery, to further customize and manage their device.
  5. Considerations: Rooting can void the warranty and may affect features like Samsung Pay, Secure Folder, and some banking apps.

Important Notes:

  • Warranty: Rooting will void the warranty.
  • Samsung Pay: You may lose access to Samsung Pay after rooting.
  • Banking Apps: Some banking apps may not function correctly after rooting and may require Magisk Hide.
  • OTA Updates: You will no longer be able to receive over-the-air (OTA) updates after rooting.
  • Security: Be cautious when downloading rooting tools and files, as they can be malicious.
Sorry for the odd highlight, it would not allow me to paste it normally.

Good luck and best wishes.
