Echo 2 in the works?

I'm still researching Android phones (on Sprint) as my upgrade from my Treo Pro is fast approaching. I'm a corporate user, so I'll be getting work emails sent to my phone, thus the 2 screens would make life a bit easier I think, as well as surfing the web being more enjoyable.

I found this article talking of rumors of an Echo 2 in the works...thought I'd share:

The only real issues for me are lack of 4G & no front facing camera in the current model. I can easily accept the battery life & looks of the device if the function is there...so still researching. Its either Photon, Nexus S 4G or the Echo.

I doubt they'll release a 2nd Echo till around CES or CITA next year, but I think when they do they're gonna make it much more high end. Probably the S4 Snapdragon processor, 4in screens that are much closer together, and 4G(hopefully Clearwares 120mbps LTE)

The Echo was a 1st, and a good one, but not alot of people were willing to try it. The next one will get much wider adoption I think.

I love my echo and am glad I bought it. 4g is not a factor for me since its not really here much anywhere. I have better city wifi coverage. SLIGHTLY bigger screens with higher resolution would be nice. I don't mind the battery but I know 2.3 would have it running better. Really, the Echo should be on 3.2 just because of what it does but that won't happen. There most likely wouldn't be another Echo till Ice Cream Sandwich is out.

Well, I think its a great solution for my needs so...gonna pick it up this week. If I can't make it work, I'll swap it out for the Nexus S G4...I don't have 4G here either...so its of little use at the moment.

The almighty hinge pretty much demands squarish corners, you can't do anything too crazy with the shape and still have two screens. I gave a list before, but:

(Outer Face) Super AMOLED panel, larger and thinner. Move the audio circuitry into the empty space where backlight had been. Maybe a dot camera is possible.

(Inner Face) Super AMOLED panel, larger and thinner. Continuous glass would look better if technically feasible.

(Rear) Slightly better camera? Some people gripe about the speaker grille or the thin battery cover but meh.

(Internals) Faster hardware is always nice, but power and battery are a SEVERE concern. I'd ask for 1800mAh li-poly but it drives the cost up and can't be swapped. So either more power with same endurance or better endurance with same power. Ideally a good power mode system could allow both with the same hardware. If the hardware is fast, a video-out would be nice. Next bluetooth please to support HID profile, less concerned with WIMAX or Wifi-N but the yuppies will eat it up.

(Software) Preferably 3.x Android. Integrate the Document Viewer, or include an actual office suite. Add "Magic Mirror" (Two normal apps on separate screens). Richer media playback onboard, so we don't have to hunt the market for basic functionality.

Same here love my echo! And att and verizon???? Please the main networks that rip consumers off! I love sprints unlimte data and no freaking surprises. my echo is great and all who saw me pull it out had nothing to say exept what the f**K is that wow! About 6 friends that saw my echo acually went out that same week and bought it.,

My Echo phone has Wow!!!D everyone I've shown it to...from Galaxy S owners to even the loyal iphone owners. I also own the HTC Evo, and the only thing I use it for is the HDMI-OUT for movies.
God I hope they make an Echo 2. Upgraded camera, bigger screens, newer processor, and oh yeah....add an HDMI-OUT so I can sell my Evo, lol...

HAD TO DROP A LINE FOR SUM ECHO LUV.. first, this thang is durable!! I denn step on it, drop it, got it wett, even burn it on adcident... so I'm luving dat I don't need to worry about insurance and stuff. Wat I don't like is the bar across the middle.. watchn videos on this phone would be awesome if it didn't have the bar. And my other issue is...no front camera. And dats about it...! Great phone sound well, and people do say "" wat the fuc$k is that!" Lol.
