Edge lighting causes unlock lag

I have an issue with my S9 + and edge lighting. The effect works like it should but when I get a text message and unlock the phone, the screen is unresponsive to any touch for about 5 seconds until the edge lighting stops then tapping the screen works again. I narrowed it down to the lighting effect. If I turn the effect off and get a text message immediately after unlock I can open my messaging app or use any of the touch functions. Turn edge lighting back on and boom 5 second delay to open anything after unlocking from a text message notification, even the Back Home and Recent touch buttons do not respond during this time. This is a stock ROM tried with both stock and 3rd party messenger apps.

I have always used edge lighting and never had this behavior. Is yours set to show only when screen is off or both on an off?

I actually should have mentioned I tried both of those settings, both have the same issue. Think ill probably have to factory reset. So annoying... Just worried it wont fix it and will be a waste of time

Have you tried in safe mode?

Just gave that a try with the same behavior still no response for a few seconds after unlocking

No go after that either so strange lol. I'm not sure what to think

Try a clear data on the edge app and restart phone.
Does it happen with all apps or just with some?

Did that and still the same issue . Its not an app that is affected but the entire phone. Only when I get a text message and unlock mid notification there is a 5 second delay before the phone responds to anything. so the process is, I get a text, the edge light is glowing, I unlock with my fingerprint, the screen unlocks and I am on the home screen but the phone's touch screen does not respond to anything for ~5 seconds. Only when I get a text and only with edge light turned on, as soon as I turn the edge effect off and get a text the phone responds instantly after unlocking. Also did a factory rest and its still doing the same thing.

If it still does it after a factory reset then I don't know what to say...
What version of the edge screen app do you have?

mine is showing that it is on version 3.3.67.5

yeah makes no sense to me. guess i just got a POS version of the S9+ lol

There is an app named Glimpse notifications.
Try it. It could make the issue go away.
