Sure. Install the Nova launcher. Or optionally, disable it in Settings.

Yes. At that point you should run a rom like bugless beast that's more stock and its already deodex.

Yes as stated with a home replacement you can. The space is just not usable. If you want to use the space you will need to root.

Update: I still can not find this option under Settings, if anyone could help that would be great. Also, where can I get Nova Launcher? I can not find it in the market place.

My bad your right. I haven't used it since the first few builds and at the time it just removed it. Just went back to it and might stick with it. Thanks!

Open your apps. Top right click 3 dots. Open nova settings. Click desktop then persistent and click never.
