Edit text box lock screen

My phone updated to 4.3 yesterday, with no real problems, once I got rid of the crazy notifications. Now I'm wondering if there's a way to get rid of the edit text on my lock screen? Instead of quickly swiping the screen open, if I linger around the clock area a text box with the edit symbol appears in the lower right corner, along with "swipe to unlock" with the lock symbol.
I've looked in my settings but I'm not seeing an obvious setting to control that.

I *think* (I'm not on 4.3), that "lingering" movement is how you control the lock screen widgets. If you just swipe across the lower part of the screen it should unlock.

This is new feature to 4.3 The edit is so you can put another Widget on the lock screen. If you swipe the clock area it will go into edit mode. Swipe to unlock below the clock.
