Editing contact info on Note 9 - what's the deal?

Struggling in my own obtuse way to edit contact data on my Verizon Note 9.

One contact has three separate phone numbers, one of which has become obsolete.
Hitting "edit" to erase that number from the entries, I find that it will only allow editing access to the first phone number listed, and no others. I can't scroll down to edit other phone entries while in "edit' mode.

I've got to be missing some blatant and simple with this thing.
Any ideas out there?

When you click on edit, at the top of your screen, does it show "google" and "phone"? If it does, tap on the one not selected and see if you can edit it then.
