Email and Text Tones?

On the Droid I was able to assign a different Tone for Text Messages and Email, I seem to be unable to do this with the Thunderbolt. I can distinguish Ring Tone, as it clearly says Ring Tone, but in settings there appears to be two different Notification areas for Tones, but if I set one or the other Text and or Email they use the same tone.

Am I missing something in settings? I've clicked on Messages (Text) and then menu thinking the settings would be exclusive to Text messaging, but as soon as I test it, it has the same sound as my email tone (notification). I have my Notification set to Droid, since this was my old Email Chime, but I want a different tone for Text messages.

You can definitely set your text and email notification sounds through their respective apps.

Seems like you were close with Messages. Open it up again, menu -> settings and then tap "Notification sound" to choose which one you want. Make sure "Received notification" and "Play notification sound" are checked.

If you're using the Gmail app, it's pretty much the same. Menu -> more -> settings, then scroll down to Notification settings and tap "Select ringtone".

This is very strange. From the main screen I hit Menu>Settings>Sound>Phone ringtone -- This is obvious.

Scrolling down from there I come to Notifications (no description)>Droid (setting)>Apply -- This I'm assuming is the Email Notification? I have not idea.

Back to the main screen:

Messages> (I have Compose Message Bubble All Messages & SMS/MMS Compose Message). I select SMS/MMS Bubble>Menu>Settings>(Check)Received notification>(Check)Play Notification sound(Check)>Vibrate (Check)>Play notification sound (Check)>Notification Sound (Confirm-Tone)>Ok.

Scrolling down in the same field as SMS/MSS Bubble there is Voicemail Notification Settings, this is self explanatory.

Back to the main menu:

Apps Menu>Gmail>Menu>More>Settings>Email Notification (Checked)>Select ringtone (Droid)>Vibrate>For All Gmail Notifications>Notify once (Checked).

This seems pretty straight forward right, well, when I go back to SMS/MMS Chat Bubble>Menu>Settings>Notification Sound (it returns to default and the Droid Sound set for Email). It must be using MMS/SMS for both sounds.

It would appear the problem was in the creation of an Audio file folder with Notification and Ringtone as sub-folders. The phones setting(s) could not distinguish the tones, it was defaulting to Droid as the 'Notification' as a result of the Notification Folder. I'm not sure if making an SMS folder will correct this problem.
