Email App Notifications

Okay people, I have a problem with my email. Like most people, I get a ton of email ~200/day, and like most people, there is no way I can manage all of that, especially in my inbox. I would have to sift through everything to make sure I didn't miss an incredibly important email, etc. etc. So, like most gmail users, I made tags, and autofilters (and basically I told everything that goes to a tag, to skip the inbox), aka, I'm using them as a sort of multiple inboxes for the various subjects/mailing lists I subscribe to. This is all well and good, until I got my X, and started trying to use email notifications. In BOTH the gmail app, and the generic email app, you have the option to turn on and off notifications, and than vibrate, and the ringtone. But these notifications are only for the inbox, non of the other tags cause it to go off. So I downloaded k-9, and yes, it has them...however that app is slightly old and missing some very helpful features (aka, threading), furthermore, that thing has SO many features, that it's a pain to set up. After a few minutes of going through all of the options, I found one to just notify me of everything, but this became overwhelming, as every time it made another pull, I would have something new (and 1/5 of the time, it was just spam it notified me I had), anyway, I long story short, I ended up having to delete the app.

So, is there anyway I can get notifications to work on SOME of the tags that I have? Because as it is right now, it looks like the only thing I can do, is create another email address, have all of the unread tagged email (because I have some of it marked as read on arrival), and then sync up to that inbox too. But than while I'll get notified, the messages won't get marked as read in my inbox, etc.

Can anyone help? Thank you.

I would guess no, the notification is for the app itself and everything in the app. If there isn't any customization in the settings then no dice. Someone tell me if I'm wrong

Oh rats....I guess I could go back and spend a few hours setting up the K-9... Thanks anyway.

One thing you might look into is only sync the labels you want, therefore you have the choice to only get the labels you want notified.. in a way. might be worth looking at.

Gmail> Settings> Labels
