I just made the switch from iOS to Android and the thing I have noticed I'd that the email badge notifications do not seem to work for Gmail or Outlook app (interesting it's there for the builtin mail app and even Facebook).

I don't want to pay for Nova Launcher which I have read as a workaround.

Can someone confirm the issue is because of Nougat and its not just a setting?

Should we have the feature in Oreo? If so any idea when this will be released for us?

Thanks.

Welcome to Android Central! Unread count badges in stock launchers are typically only for certain apps -- it's the same on my old Honor 5X as well, running EMUI 4.0. To have unread count badges on every app that serves up notifications, you probably need to install a 3rd party launcher like Nova, or an app like Notifyer Unread Count.

Thanks for the information. Are you aware if this will be a feature for us in Android Oreo 8? It seems like they have full notification features but I guess it depends on Huawei and what modification is they ms key to the OS before rolling out.

Also do you know if there is a release date for p10?

The Oreo feature are notification 'dots'. Just dots, no numbers.

Again how it will work on Huawei would depend on how they code their launcher.

Android will support badges on a system level with version 8, so the update should fix this issue for you. The beta-test is happening now and unverified source mentioned the end of February for a roll out. But a staged roll out might mean it could be another month or more before it hits YOUR device .
