Just switched from a Samsung gs4 to a nexus 6 and having problems finding a decent email program that syncs a hotmail calendar to the Google Calendar. I use the the older hotmail app that is now discontinued. I then used the stock Samsung email program that came with the device and it synced correctly. I have the old Nexus 7 and it uses the old Hotmail app and all the syncing works correctly. I tried a bunch of the other email programs on the Play Store but none of them will sync. Would be nice just to download the old stock email program from Samsung but I'm not sure I can do that. Anyone have any ideas thank.

Personally I ran into a similar problem when I got my Nexus 6. I noticed that the old Android standard e-mail was no longer supported by Lollipop. The standard e-mail app was telling me that I had to use Gmail for all of my email, which I didn't want to do, because I like to keep my Hotmail and Gmail separate.

Like you, I remembered that the Hotmail app that used to be in the Play Store was a complete mess.

So I searched the Play Store for an email app that would work with my Hotmail. Remembering that Hotmail was renamed Outlook, I searched the Play Store and found the Microsoft Outlook app.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.office.outlook

So far I really like it. It seems to work similarly to Gmail, and seems to work well.

That one is junk also. Tried it but still no sync.

Has anyone used K9 Mail on the N6? My phone is being delivered today, and I'd really like to continue using K9 if it's compatible with the Nexus.

Currently using a Note 2, btw.

Thanks, I figured as much, but sometimes there are issues between phones (Note 2 being Samsung, N6 being Motorola).

You're entering the Nexus Zone. Where devices run genuine, pure vanilla Android. Where apps install and run happily. No Touchwhizz or Senseless mucking up the real Android experience.

Enjoy!

Android since v1.0. Linux since 2001.

Forgive me as I've never had a Hotmail account, but is it possible to set the account up via the Gmail app as a Personal POP or Personal IMAP account?

Similar problems. I downloaded the old outlook apk and installed it. Set all push settings to manual. I then installed mailwise and and use it as my main email program. Calendar now works..
