Email sync issues - getting push even though set to manual for sub folder/s

I think this issue started when I updated to Android 5.0.

I have the following setup for my Hotmail account using the default mail app:

Sync settings - Sync schedule

• Set sync schedule = Manual
• While roaming = Manual
• Peak schedule = On
• Set peak schedule = 1hr
• Peak days = All
• Peak time = 8:00AM to 8:00PM

More settings - Folder sync settings

• Selected a folder - in this case one called 'Promo Stuff'
• Sync schedule = Manual
• Peak Schedule = Manual
• Period to synce Email = use account defaults

The settings to my 'Promo Stuff' folder and at least one other folder with the same settings is not being applied. Instead it seems to be doing 'Push' notifications on these folders.

The inbox is working fine and only syncs every hour between 8am and 8pm as per the main sync settings.

Any ideas please?
