Emergency Alerts after kitkat

Has anyone figured out a way to get rid of Emergency Alerts after the KitKat update? I hated the program on my Blackberry, and don't see that changing on my Note 2.

I would like to at least choose what alerts to get. I get the flood alerts but never got the thunderstorm or tornado warnings.

App Drawer>Emergency Alerts>Menu>Settings>select what you want.

I despise Amber alerts. First of all, most of them are either false alarms or involve a non-custodial parent. Secondly, it's the police's job to find missing persons--not the general public. Are we all supposed to get our binoculars and cruise up and down the streets, looking for a particular license plate number? Gimmie a break. Think of the additional number of drivers riding around with their minds on anything but their driving. Did I mention I don't like Amber alerts?
