Has anyone pocket dialed 911 on accident. My phone has done this twice since I got it at launch. To me once is one too many. Any way to correct this?

there are apps and so forth, but since the dialer isn't on the main screen I'm having trouble seeing how that's done. my son regularly pocket dials me, but he's riding Apple.

Yea, I agree. It appears it has to go through a couple of steps and then hit just in the right spot to dial that. Guess I am unlucky on that account. This being said it might not ever happen to me again, just one of those things.

do you have the setting on for accidental touches?

Wow, that wouldn't be good. I have pocket dialed plenty, my daughter can attest to that with her annoyed confirmation lol. Luckily though my note 8 only decides to call people I've texted. I went in and changed the auto settings (which having these settings on is silly to me) - where you can auto dial people texted with small touches/movements of the screen.

I think those options are silly and dangerous, too. I've accidentally dialed people, and my mom has accidentally dialled me a couple of times on an S8 we got for her.

That has made her even more reluctant to use that nice phone (which she is already afraid of). She's 84, and it's hard to get her to embrace some new things. The last thing she needed was to have the darned phone dial without her wanting it to, and consequently cause her to be embarrassed and even more afraid of it!

I have recently discovered the existence of those options and turned them all off on my phone and hers, too. I've also got the setting set that is supposed to keep touches from doing anything when the phone is in a dark place. Hopefully all of that will help prevent these accidental diallings.

I'm with you guys on this. If I want to make a call, I can do it explicitly and deliberately.

I have seen that "emergency call" thing on my lock screen, though, and I'm not sure how you can secure that better to avoid accidental 911 calls. In my town, they have a policy of always responding to the source location of any 911 call, even if you tell them not to come. That's in case someone needs help, but a bad guy tells them not to come. It would be annoying and very embarrassing to have to explain a false 911 call to the responding officers. This does need to be set up to make it possible to make such a call, but not so easy that it happens accidentally. It's probably hard to find a good balance so you can do it fast in an emergency, but won't do it accidentally.

My hubby's phone (S8+) has now done this way too many times. Block accidental touches is on, but it keeps happening. He's an electrician, so lots of movement throughout the day. Is there a solution?

Do you have the Send SOS mode enabled? I've called my son a few times accidentally with it active.

I had this happen to me twice in the past few months now, but it's only happened when I had headphones on. Not glad that it's happening to others, but just to know im not the only one and that I'm not at fault here haha. Ive NEVER had this happen to me before with any of my other phones. Were any of you using headphones when this happened?

No headphones plugged in nor Bluetooth.

I disabled the May Day function. Somehow, I accidentally triggered the May Day function (pressing the power button three times in rapid succession).

I too have never had any other phone do this. Mine hasn't done it since I started this thread so thats good. I was not using headphones when it happened. Had put the phone in my shirt pocket locked and a few minutes later heard 911 operator on the phone.
