So I was always happy with my stock gnex. Since 4.3 has come out it has been intolerably slow. I have been debating getting a new phone, but found out my update isnt until january. Since then I have been looking at this forum and discovered why the easily unlockable phone is so coveted. Anyway, Im really confused. I read all the stickys on top, and from what it seems, ROMs are like super apps sorta that need more than usual permissions to be installed, hence the unlocking. I have used WUGs nexus manager to unlock the bootloader and root the phone. What I really want though is to be able to go back to 4.2.2. I cant seem to figure out how to do that and am really confused.

never mind I'm an *****. I explored the stickies pretty far, but not the actual WUG program. I think I've got it. Though while im waiting for my phone to restart, I have another question. With ROM manager do I find ROMS from the internet and then download them while on my phone or do I need to put them on my PC and pass them over or something?

I am not a "crack flasher" but have done it both ways, just remember where the ROM and gapps files are located when flashing. I also have changed to TWRP to flash and download. I find it easier that Rom Manager. Happy Flashing.
Remember that clean flashes work best with the least amount of issues IMHO.

ROMs aren't "super apps" its custom Android firmware/OS that devs merge the code together from the AOSP. You can download ROMs from apps like ROM Manager or GOO Manager or you can just download them straight from the devs website. You can use ROM Manager to flash ROMs, but I recommend doing it manually by booting into your custom recovery that you chose to use, such as TWRP or Clockwork. Make a backup just in case things don't go as planned, perform a factory reset (wipe cache, data, and system) then install whichever ROM you chose and then flash Gapps if it isn't packaged with your ROM, reboot and profit.

*To answer your question about going back to 4.2.2, I believe CM 10.1 is 4.2.2 but why would you want to, 4.3 is flawless and battery life is way better than I've ever had!
