Am I the only one that is having the issue of the emoticons not showing up and just the text in messenger?

Yeah they're not showing up in the text app on my Droid X as well.

I've used an app called handcent on my Nexus which shows emoticons and I just confirmed that this works on the DX. Its more customizable then the built in app but the downside is that it doesn't integrate into the unified messaging app.

mm i doubt it. my advice is to pick up handcent. It's free and in many ways better than the stock sms experience. thats just my opinion however so check it out for yourself and go through the settings to see if you like it

The update that came in for the Droid 2 did not include the Droidicons that we see in SMS messages. I have downloaded Handcent but the emoticons that the program uses is just a round green face and not the droidicons. I have no idea if we will get those back :-(

They don't show up if you hold down the emoticon button? I am on 2.2 and when I hold down the smiley button they pop up

2.2 on the x they show up when held but not in the tex. Miss my green guy.

You know what really irritates me? Since I left my blackberry behind, my girlfriend and I have been using gtalk. The gtalk emoticons are different between the platforms! It mostly comes down to android using a hyphen for the nose and bbc not having it, but it seems odd that the gtalk team wouldn't have this standardized across platforms.

Not sure if this is silly, but I hold the :-) and see the green emoticons and when I send it to my wifes fascinate it shows the green smiley that I chose, when she does it back they are just the slash/dots of whatever one she chose and I have the X. Any ideas/suggestions as to why?

spellcheck for text messages on the droid x

does anyone know where spellcheck is for droid x for textn

I have had similar issues. One that I started using that didn't give me problems is GummiBuddies. GummiBuddies are animated emoticons that are easy to send out in texts. Checkout
