I was going to do a backup of my phone to my laptop. When I connected the phone to my laptop with the usb cable, open file explorer and opened my phone - it says "this folder is empty"? Anyone know why this is?

When I go to settings on my phone .... storage, ....explore - my folders are there but some are empty, i.e., pictures (even though I have taken a lot).

Thanks so much!

 Please report what kind of Phone is that : Here're some basic
tests to carry on if you own a Samsung phone. Check this out

1) Turned off the phone completely and connect the USB-Phone
to the Laptop. You'll here a sound. When remove it emit a sond too

2) Turn On the phone and coonected the USB-cable to the laptop this
time around, you'll see the File explorer it says this folder is empty

3) Remove the USB from laptop. Now unlock the Phone and connect
the USB to Laptop again. This time the phone will display the
20 or 32 GBs data on the File Explorer-Window

If it doesn't is because the Phone driver is Not recognized by the Laptop
Happens to Me until I read on the Web. That I've to install the

Samsung Kies3 : This software install the driver in my PC to
recognize the folders and other Phone functions. SeeYa!

Sorry, I thought I had posted this in the Galaxy Note 7 forum -- I just got a Galaxy Note 7 (first Android). I will try your suggestions, thanks so much!

O:-) Hi souffoue: Just review the case and you're right: I was wrong..hehe!
You posted in the right SubForum "Samsung Galaxy-Note7" I'm
new like yourself. Getting familiar to Navigate on AC-Website

If you don't have -SamsungKies3- Installed..downloaded from the Internet
and then carry out the tests suggested. Report results for the records
