Encrypting Phone

Today I got the bright idea that I should encrypt my phone. I did, and the phone restarted.
When it fully restarted, I found that my home key didn't work anymore, most of my apps had to be downloaded again, and most of my settings were borked.
I factory reset, and all is well now (unencrypted). I just thought that I would warn other users to back up everything before trying anything that has the potential to mess everything up.

Why did you decide to encrypt your phone for? Just curious.

I listen to a TWIT podcast called Security Now. The last episode was about Iphone security. I wanted to see if I could encrypt my phone with Android. I found that the answer is yes, but I really should not have. I really do not have anything on there that is sensitive, and I can remotely wipe it via Exchange or Lookout if I lose it.

My mistake for experimenting.

Apparently it's easier to encrypt the Galaxy Nexus, also I'd avoid encrypting your phone if you don't have world-bending files on it, the NSA is very suspicious of people who encrypt their phone.
