End call presents "Recent" menu

Situation: phone was last on HOME page, but now is in pocket with screen off.
Incoming call received and answered. It was a nice convo, with the wife, for example.
Now, its time to end the call. One of us selects the END CALL button.
Phone screen shows RECENT CALLS menu, instead of the HOME page.

What gives? Why does this occur? Why does it NOT go back to the HOME page, where it started?

Not a show stopper, but annoying, just the same.
If I could understand why this happens, it may be easier to live with.

PS. I searched for this topic, w/o success.

Is there a setting, for this, that I am just not seeing?

I don't think anyone knows. It is just the way it does things. I looked at the settings and could not find anything.

I reckon so, but It does not make sense to me.
I'm pretty sure my DX did not do that.
