Hasn't this already been covered somewhere? They aren't EOLing the Incredible they are EOLing the SKU where the Incredible comes with the 2GB memory card. Hence the "One android 2.1 W/2GB Card" on the end of the name. Even if they are doing it, it doesn't matter by then the successor for it will be out, hopefully with a dual core processor!

Wrong end of life. This is a real end of life (not a sku change)

I figure by the time 3.31.11 rolls around, we will all be drooling over the next new and shiny thing. A shame that the Incredible didn't really get to have much of a life. Hopefully HTC will sooner or later figure out how to release a cool phone with plenty of supply to back it up.

Ah just give me another good reason to be rooted. We will always have support from the community devs! Verizon doesn't give us much of a support chain for them now except replacing them and they will have plenty in stock beyond that point to replace a broken phone with.

I figure by then the Inc2 or whatever it ends up being called will be out! So oh well.

I posted the following in WMWexpert.

I noticed that all phones will EOL by 3/31/2011. This may mean that Verizon will release a new line of 4g/3g phones for there LTE network.

As far as the WP7 they may take a wait-and-see approach because of the Kin. There thinking maybe to skip a 3g only WP7. Wait until April to release a 4g/3g phone.

Edit: I also think that the only 4g/3g phone that maybe on Verizon come January will be the iPhone. Giving Apple a 3 month headstart.

by 3/31/11 we will all be using a phone with a 2gb processor running on LTE. With all of the competition with not only the iPhone, but other android devices, there will be some really powerful phones on the market within the next couple months. I'm excited!

Looks like about all the phones have an EOL date about then ,,just a few I dont see listed in that list ;)

i am not worried about it. i have my incredible for till my next upgrade. by then the Dinc 2 will most likely be around.

To be fair, that's 10 months after release (May of 2010). That's longer than the original Droid's sales life, right?

I am convinced that the EOL date of 3/31/11 is a placeholder for devices that they don't yet have an end of life data for. There are too many of them there to EOl on the same day. Cell phone companies don't work that wag, they like to gradually phase out and gradually introduce new devices so that they always have good stock, and have multiple periods of excitement over a new device. By the look of this, ALL vzw smartphones basically sol on that date. I just don't see it. Must be a placeholder...

Actually VZW ia a WP7 launch partner with at least two phones and possibly three. The KIN fiasco was more VZWs fault than anyone else's - the pricing scheme made no sense for a phone targeted at teens.

Also, the chances of a Verizon iPhone are slim, and as Android consistently beats iPhone in sales it gets slimmer.

As to the EOL date, I also think it is a placeholder. Plus as LTE rolls out they will be wanting to get LTE handsets out in the wild. I just hope that they finally stop underestimating demand, and that the next killer phones actually have enough units available on rollout that they don't suddenyl go out of stock, which pulls the carpet out from under the success of the phone.

Them carring the iPhone at the moment is far from being slim from their perspective. That phone alone would bring droves of people off AT&T to Verizon that alone would be enough for them to give it a try for a year or so. It has nothing to do with sales vs. Android.

The kin issue was both a Microsoft and Verizon issue. Who the heck wants a feature phone that you have to pay a smart phone contract for! NO APP MARKET! Eck......

Well low stock on a high demand item must not have done much for killing the success of a phone. Last I heard the HTC Incredible is now the second highest selling Android handset Verizon has carried. Following the Original Droid obviously which has a bit of a head start and I'm sure will be beat. Amazing thing how a lot of people feel MORE compelled to jump in line when there is a backorder, because after all if it's back ordered it has to be a good phone!

The EOL for these phones may be a placeholder. But they are also looking for bragging rights since Sprint released the "World's first and Only 4G Phone" with the EVO. I forsee an add coming up, "In a World Without Choices Verizon Gives them to you offered 4 New Smart Phones, the iPhone, Inc 2, X 2, Droid 3".

All I see is the ground work for a massive push of the LTE service and a bunch of new phones. But I think these phones will be here a head of the rollout and beat these EOL dates by at least a month. Some of these dates I sure will be changed to meet delays in production / engineering / design of new devices, so we shall see.

What about a Droid Xtacey & Droid Invincible.

Screw Invincible I want Droid Inconceivable......quad core processor, 2Gb of RAM, 1GB of video ram, 32GB internal storage, a screen with a resolution 3x higher, and a battery life of a week!! Not to mention full LTE and SIM capabilities......oh wait this isn't 2015!

Hmmmm... I distinctly remember the Inconceivable shipped with Gingerbread in late 2011. ;)

No that was the iConceivable, it was only available on AT&T when they started offering WiTE. Sucked for Apple though because it had heat issues with the battery and kept blowing out speakers. The much better Taiwan knock off from HTC should be out in 2015, of course you can't always follow inside information and road maps!

LOL and though you're ripping off my bit - it's funny. I think the real problem with the WiTE was that the heat from the battery was updating them to iBrown. ;)
