Endgadget says Epics GPS is fixed

I'll give it another try in the morning, but when i first tested it (albeit pretty quickly), it definitely wouldn't get an accurate location indoors.

Had GPS and assisted GPS turned on, too.

I never expect it to get accurate indoors. Check it outdoors, that is what truly matters.

Agree, but all other phones i've used would get a lock indoors.

Will check it out outside tomorrow and see what happens.

Some online unboxing and hands on videos on youtube showed some reviewers having an update available soon as they turned on the phone. I wonder if that has anything to do with the GPS issue.

Have you received this update yet prdstm0nke???

This is hit or miss with my Pre. Most of the time it will get a lock but there are a few times it won't and I will have to restart the phone.

If the Epics GPS is as accurate as my Palm Pre or better I will be happy. Indoors my Pre gets a lock immediately but is about a quarter mile off accuracy. As soon as I go outside, it's about 99 accurate (stable turn by turn unless I'm between large buildings like downtown LA that actually block the sats signal). The Pre is a little over a year old if I can remember correctly so in that time I would expect improvements with basic things like GPS, Call quality, pic quality etc.

Your phone cannot get an accurate lock on you location if you are inside. Instead it is based on the cell towers etc.

My pre, hero, and touch pro 2 all got good locks indoors. I let the epic sit on google maps about 30 minutes indoors but it never gave me a good solid lock (only the one that says its accurate to 1500 meters).

Outside, and even inside close to a window, it worked perfectly, which, as mentioned before, is what really matters.
