In addition, direct link to Epic support page on Samsung site:

Thanks! Although, I don't know how useful it will be. Honestly, we know everything in the basics, but what about the problems we are still trying to figure out if they can be solved? Like adjusting the brightness of the backlights of the capacitive buttons.

Thanks for the links!

flipping through the manual and found something some might be interested in who were complaining that the unlock screen was just an up swipe. On page 10 there is a mention of setting and requiring an unlock pattern. Is this the feature you wanted?

No, the feature is the unlock animation. Like the puzzle unlock or the "screen-flick" unlock. This is in the other Galaxy S phones, but not on the Epic.

The manual does not mention anything about the led notification light being anything but red for charging. It does mention it can be used for other stuff, but does not mention colors. Lame.

I know. Did Samsung take out the blue LED? I think there's a blue one for bluetooth.

So far, the internets are only reporting red. Im hoping for at least green and yellow. Blue would be a huge bonus.

I've poked around in the system dumps that are out. In the framework-res apk the images for the puzzle unlock are there so it hasn't been removed entirely. Here's hoping that a froyo update will give it back as well as the other stripped items.

Oddly, on page 22 of the manual they recommend turning off Wifi to help conserve battery life.

Turn Wi-Fi off when not in use. (See “Turning Wi-Fi
On and Off” on page 177.)

Now I've always left Wifi on so that I don't waste battery life searching/maintaining my 3G service.

If your wifi is on but you're not connected to wifi, it'll search for wifi and for 3G.

Once you have a 3G connection verified, I don't believe it drains battery any faster than 2G unless it actually gets used... but I also have no idea what I'm talking about here so take that with a grain of salt.

True, but some things may be set to push updates and notifications. Even if you think you're not using wifi at the time, the other apps may indeed be. You'd have to turn off ALL the updates in order for the wifi to not waste too much battery. Since the signal has to travel a shorter distance though, I think that's why you get better battery life as opposed to 3g/4g.

Oh, yeah, for sure wifi uses less battery than 3G. I'm saying if you're not connected to wifi at the time, it'll spend battery scanning for a wifi hotspot it recognizes *as well as* for a 3G signal, which is why they recommend turning it off

Yes and that's why my iPhone battery drains so fast: I forget to turn off the wifi!
