Just wanted to let you all know that I still adore my Epic. It's just simply Epic.

I have never been so happy with a phone before that I actually don't want anything else at all. I look at Evo (which I had for 3 months). heh. I look at iPhone. heh. I look at Droid X. heh.

I honestly have the best phone on the market in the palm of my hand. Heck yes.

This one is a keeper!

I agree, but it isn't a phone for everyone (no phone on the market is, not even the iPhone).

I have faith (mostly) that the no sleep, 3G upload, DRM/Media Hub, and GPS (which I haven't played with enough to be sure I've experienced) issues will be resolved eventually.

A 3G speed test last night got me a 600 kbps upload. I don't think I got the update yet, but then I'm open to the possibility of "lucky fluke", as I was having similar results previously, but a power cycle made them go away.

My phone slept a little this morning (it's charging right now) after a power cycle. DRM was killed off.

I'm rough on my phone - with an office in the basement, the phone is constantly roaming between Sprint and Verizon (and not having a signal at all). So a dead battery (unless I charge it) isn't a surprise (my Palm Pre had issues). So, none of what I've experienced has really surprised me at all; the Pre used to stay on the touchstone when I was in my office or at home.

Really enjoying this phone. So far any issues I have with the keyboard are completely the fault of my own fingers, and I just adore Swype for a lot of what I used to use a keyboard for. Heck, I occasionally post Twitter/Facebook updates by voice dictation (and tag them with #viavoice ... and #accurate if voice got them right).

Just wish the Facebook apps notifications didn't launch the web version but went to the entry in the app. And that I could sort my Exchange/IMAP email (I know, I know, I could download an app, but there isn't any single free app out there that does EAS and IMAP - but I would expect that to resolve itself somewhere along the line).

So yeah, I like my phone.

i love what the phone is capable of but the little things (keyboard missing presses, gps, etc) are annoying me. keeping the phone though cause the good outweighs the bad. i think i'll probably go for a non physical keyboard phone next time around so i can get something slimmer. the screen is simply sick though

I'm keeping mine but under a caveat which wasn't mentioned in the poll, my first one was garbage and I had to TEP replace it within 7 days and the second one works like a charm and now I love the thing and am definitely keeping it but I almost swapped the first one out for an Evo until I was offered the TEP replacement keeping the option to still swap out to an Evo within the 30 days.

Perhaps a new option should be added to the poll for those who swapped to a different Epic due to issues...

What issues?

I remember how awesome updates and fixes coming both from Palm and from the PreWare community were for the Pre over the year + that I had it, so I can only hope that things are that awesome for the Epic...

I love the hell out of this phone. I don't really notice too many of the issues most users speak about. Mine works great.

I. LOVE. IT.

Has too many serious issues, and Samsung is horrible with updates and support. As we have already witnessed over the years...

What issues?

My first Epic had serious battery drain, I would take it off the charger at 7:30AM and by noon it would be dead and all the phone did was just sit on my desk at work without being used at all, time without signal was steady at 50%-60% in strong singal areas, GPS would not work and I had to PRL update (rather than toggle airplane mode) about 5 times a day just to get the time without signal down. Then I updated the software to DI07 and I still had the same issues but PRL updates or aiplane mode toggle had no affect and time without signal started to hang around 60%-70% and my battery would be dead by 10:00AM now, again without the phone ever being used since I was at work. This is why I was willing to swap out to an Evo but was talked out of it.

Replacement Epic, freakin' awesome. I have a couple things killed in the background to save some juice like killing off DRM, Media Hub and Sprint HotSpot due to recent findings on these but even with those on it was a night and day difference over the first Epic and I can get 2 days with light to moderate use out of the phone and 14 hours with moderate to heavy use. Also, time without signal on the new Epic is usually 0%-5% and only goes above 5% when I'm REALLY in a weaker signal area.

Very happy with the new phone!

My Epic has lived up to it's name.

GPS (at least on my phone) works, battery gets me through a day, awesome screen and the power to run any game/app smooth as silk.

Its too early to judge Samsung on Galaxy S support in the USA. I'll wait and see where the Galaxy S family is at when 2011 comes around before commenting on that.

Hopefully a game gripper is released by the end of the year too.
