epic voicemail not working?

No idea what's going on... My voicemail greeting won't announce. Someone calls- they hear nothing. They can still leave a message (they hear no beep or anything) but as they do they hear themselves echo/feedback as they leave the message. THEN if I try to call in vs. using visual voicemail- I get the same thing! No audio menu- just silence till I try to talk- and I hear my own echo. Keypad does nothing to get me into menus.

I have to call 611 (sprint) and either use the automated system to reset my password which will reset the voicemail system- but then I leave a new message- and it's the same problem all over again! I called customer service- they tried a few things on their end- still no resolution. Now they say I need to return the phone. (big hassle)

Anyone have any ideas?

just use google voicemail or youview youmail (my favorite) because when someone calls it will automatically greeds them by name. whats way cool. for exsample your name is john and your callers name is dave it will say something like " Hello dave, John isnt available right now please leave a message. and it does it with every name in your contact list and automatic accounes your name and you dont need to do anything besdies downloading the app and activating it. pretty darn cool.

Apparently in LA there's intermittent Voicemail issues.

Intersting about youmail...may have to look into that.

I am also having trouble with the voicemail app.

The app allows me to review only the last voicemail received but the saved ones can't be accessed. When I delete the current voice message, the screen turns black and sometimes freezes and eventually force closes. If I completely exit the app and select again, sometimes it gets me to main screen with a list of all messages from which I can navigate normally.

The behavior is sporadic, sometimes works others won't.

OP - I am now having this issue on a new Epic I bought last month. I think it has something to do with google voice? Did you ever find a solution to your problem?

I've had the phone since launch, and haven't gotten a Voicemail notification since November. I called customer service about it and they said it wasn't working for anyone (which was a horrible lie). I have since accepted the fact that it will never work and simply check my voicemail manually.

Even the update to Froyo didn't fix it for me.
