Hi

In iOS there is an option to erase the user's data after 10 consecutive wrong password inputs - is it possible to do so on N4 in addition to encrypting the device storage?

I don't think so. However, you can install something like Cerberus to maintain control of your phone in case you lose it. That's probably the next best thing, and protects you from "friends" who might do this to your phone as a joke.

That's so weird.

The pin may be brootforced even manually, so device encryption makes no sense (keeping in mind there is no removable storage)

On my Nexus 4, if I enter the wrong password, I get a message "You have unsuccessfully ... 1 out of 4 tries .... " or something like that, and basically says "user data will be lost" if there after that many unsuccessful attempts. When I opted to configure the e-mail with my company's Exchange e-mail/calendar system, I was required to set PIN and agree to other things, but not sure any third-party software was installed, so assumed this was a built-in feature that was merely configured.

That's actually what I expect from my new phone (N4 16gb is already on its way to me)! Would be nice if other forum members confirm that.

I can't find any information on what happens if you encrypt your phone (different than setting up an unlock code) and put the wrong password in too many times. I believe messing up the unlock code or pattern too many times will then shut down the standard code and ask you for your Google login credentials, but I have not experienced this myself.
