Eris stays in silent mode (help)

Hi all. I have the Droid Eris with the 2.1 and lately I noticed that the phone is constantly in silent mode. I will go into the sound settings and change it to normal but keeps going back to silent. Very frustrating. Any ideas please?
Went thru apps and cant find anything that would be related. I just tried changing it to normal again by going into menu-settings-sound and display-sound profile . If I change it to normal and then exit out of that screen and go back to it its back to silent. Doesnt seem to keep the setting. This is getting really old and verizon doesnt know whats wrong. Im lost.

You don't happen to have an app like Locale, which can change settings based on place and time? It sounds like you may have such an app, sensing some particular configuration trip and going back to silent.

If not, I would try a factory reset and see what happens; just make sure all your contacts are backed up. They will be if they are Google contacts.
