I know about the problem with 2.1 where you can't hear the person on the other line... this isn't that issue.

Recently when certain people call me it rings for them 2 times and goes to voicemail. My phone never rings and just pops up with a missed call message. Anybody else having this issue...

I have the leak but i was thinking about returning it anyway and see if they will give me a new one without asking any questions. They used to do that for my blackberry's with the Beta OS's on them. Since I get my phones at a retailer and not actually from verizon (Wireless Zone). Anybody no how to fix this or think this is a good or bad idea to return?

yup

My eris did this after i upgraded. I think it's due to the generally laggyness of 2.1 v3 (same as OTA). This whole release has been a major disappointment.

Possible solutions:
reboot phone.
root.
buy Incredible.

I opted for the latter.

i have an issue, not the same as yours, but maybe it might provide some insight...

if i'm browsing on my dolphin HD, or viewing my photo album, using the FB app, etc...and i get a call, it will ring, but the screen will just go dark as its trying to display the caller ID and the "answer/ignore" buttons on the screen. sometimes they'll hang up or it'll go to VM before the screen even displays the caller ID info...

maybe the issue is that your phone is lagging so bad it doesn't even ring?

do you notice that you're using the phone when this happens or is it in a particular case or location? pocket? center console? etc...try to find a common theme and see if you can narrow it down.

its not when im using it really. its pretty much anytime these 2 people call.

My one friend can sit next to me and call me 30 times and it'll never show up on my phone but then suddenly it'll say i have 30 missed calls... and then another friend can call and it'll ring and i can answer... then i have the same issue with my girlfriend calling me but thats only on rare occasions.

Weird. Can you duplicate the issue? Particular people maybe? Also consider, even though you're not using a phone, apps are running in the background.

You can try altering the slot cycle, which affects how often the phone looks to the tower for when it is ringing. The default is a slot cycle of 2; I have mine set to 1, though you can also set it to 0.

From this thread:

You may want to call your cell phone to see the affect before you do this. My cell phone rings on the 2nd and a half ring from my office land line. After I did this, an inbound call rings on my cell phone at the 1st and a half ring.

1. bring up the phone app (like your making a call)
2. dial ##7764726 (PROGRAM) [edit: you can actually type ##PST also]
3. enter password 000000 (thats 6 zeros)
4. go to Slot Cycle Index
5. change from 2, to 1.
6. hit Menu, then commit changes

Now the phone will reboot.

Make a call to your cell phone again and see if it rings faster.

This forces your phone to checking 2 times faster than it normally checks in for calls. From roughly 5 seconds to 2.5 seconds. I did this on my 2.1 OS, so the program layout may be a tiny bit different. But the term Slot Cycle Index will be stated the same.

Once in the program menu (per above instructions) for those of us with 2.1:

Tap Modem Settings.
Tap Slot Cycle.

How does this effect your battery life? I would imagine it makes it worse. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I honestly didn't notice much difference if any in battery life after editing the slots.

i had already changed that value a couple months ago to 1 and i thought it may be the issue that's causing the problem so i changed it to 2 and i still can't recieve calls from him although he said it rings 1 more time before going to voicemail now. I also tried changing it to 0 and he said it rand less before voicemail. So this may have something to do with it but i can't seem to get it to a value that will allow his calls to come through.

the problem is that the phone is lagging too much. it cant present the call fast enough for you to be able to answer it.

Do a factory reset. You'll lose some personalization, have to re-download your market apps, but it fixes everything except bluetooth connectivity issues (at least for me)

You must have been one of the lucky ones caioti. I'm having the same issues with one Eris running V3 leak and the other running the OTA.

Same issue here. I was having an issue where my phone wouldn't notify on incoming emails and text message VZsupport had me do a factory reset, now I miss calls or the calls I do get only ring once or twice. Very annoying...Working with VZ again this morning, third time in a week....

Again, try the slot cycle edit that I listed above to see if that helps.

All right, I made that change too. tech had me change my Home Sid Number from 21 to 244...

Called my phone, didn't notice any change with the slot cycle edit yet.
