Android Central Question

Model number is VS988.
Software version is VS98830a
I have tried to update the software with Software Update 15 four times.
Each time the screen Updating Now ... (1/2) shows "Err 0x1124000".
Settings->System updates shows "SYSTEM UPDATE STATUS/Configuration updated/Applied Oct 2, 2020 at 8:28 PM PDT"
Yet the update process shows "Unsuccessful" and suggests I use the Software Upgrade Assistant.
Version 5.4 can only be used up to MacOS 10.13, and fails "not compatible".
I am running 10.15 Catalina. Do you know where I can get a version that works with 10.15?
Otherwise can you comment on "Err 0x1124000"?

Error numbers don't mean much - that one looks as if it's occurring at RAM address 0x1124000. What's causing it can only be determined by someone with a debug version of the ROM (in other words, LG developers).

Since that's a Verizon phone, go to a Verizon corporate store, ask an associate where tech support is located (it's usually in back, near where the boll payment section is), and ask them if they can run an update for you.

Welcome to Android Central! Are you trying to install a system update pushed over the air? Or did you download an update file from some website and are trying to install it manually? The G6 is an old phone, and stopped getting official updates a while ago.

FWIW, I'm having the exact same problem, with the same error code. To answer B. Diddy's question: this is indeed a system update pushed over the air.

(I think it's kind of ridiculous that a three-year old flagship phone is considered "old", but I guess there's nothing we can do about that. 😛)

Verizon store: I'm currently in Trinidad CA, far from any kind of tech store. I can try Verizon store in 2 weeks when I get back to Temecula CA.
I am registered on this forum, but wasn't asked to log in this time.
Yes, "Software Update 15" was pushed to me OTA.
Hard to square the system's persistence about this with "stopped getting official updates a while ago".

Hmm, I stand corrected: www.verizon.com/support/lg-g6-update/. Kind of shocking, coming from LG!:p

Which carrier are you on right now? Carrier-specific phones can be picky about being on that original carrier's network to install an official update successfully.

What happens when you try the software upgrade assistant tool?

OP mentioned it:

B. Diddy 1:54PM: Phone is Verizon, and I'm always on Verizon.
No Windows computers available, nor likely to be.
I have an inquiry in to LG, and hope to hear from them Monday.
Thanks to all who have responded. I was just hoping you could come up with an answer b4 Monday.

Oh sorry, I initially thought you were in Trinidad the country, not Trinidad in California.:p

I get the same error upgrading over the air, using Spectrum
WIFI and using the software upgrade assistant on my windows PC. Let's see, what is common with all these comments, the LG G6, the error ERR0x1124000, and the Update 15. All our phones function fine, must be the upgrade code!!

I'm having the same issue installing over wi-fi. In addition, the software assistant tool won't install on the desktop to allow that option either. Lenovo running
Windows 10. Somewhere I read that the upgrade tool for the desktop isn't available until about a week after the system update is out. Now that makes no sense at all.

Yeah , it's strange with the tool and ota to fail , something not right.

Sounds like a goof on LG's part. I'd send them feedback about it, or contact LG support.
