Selling my Droid X2 on EBay with a clear esn. I have been asked to provide this to a potential buyer so they can verify this. I have no problem doing this, but is there any risk in doing so? Would hate to provide this to someone with malicious intentions who could do something with this info. Appreciate any input.

I don't think so (not 100% sure tho) cuz it isn't linked to any personally info.....its just like the phone's ID number.....I think you should be ok

I've seen listings that posted the ESN on ebay from people who regularly sell phones. So it looks like it should be ok.
But someone a little more knowledgeable will need to verify this.

I know Verizon checks ESNs when activating, which im sure we all do, but whether malicious uses can be had with knowing the ESN is honestly beyond me.

I know I don't have many posts here but I've been in the wireless industry for 12+ years. The only downfall I've seen with giving someone the ESN to have it verified is that the person that received the ESN had it added to their account & then filed an insurance claim and got a "new" phone, and in essence screwed the person selling the phone.

I've only saw this happen once in my career. I've sold a number of used phones and never had this problem. Just comes down more to common sense. Good luck with it !!!
