As stated in the article; "It's unclear whether this is based on sources speaking to DBS Designing, or whether it's simply wishful thinking on their part."

My money is on the wishful thinking at this point, at least until someone at Essential confirms or denies it.

I thought about waiting to see if this came to furition. I thought the first device was perfect except for no sd card slot. The thing is I really wanted a good phone from an OEM that keeps devices up to date. I decided I could live with out an SD card slot if I got 256GB. I went an bought the OnePlus 7pro. So far I'm loving it but if Essential comes out with this in 3 months at a good price I'm going to be mad I didn't wait. We will see. Looks like roumors and speculation like elsewhere on line for now.

Yeah, I'm thinking if that's what Rubin puts out, I'm going to be switching to the LG G8 ThinQ or G9 ThinQ when my Essential is on it's last leg. The LG G8 can be bought new for $350 to $450 Canadian on eBay and other places and it has the Snapdragon 855 and a better camera than the Essential Ph-1
