Event alerts in my home screen

Hello
How can I turn off the event to be showed in my screen?
Every time I get an alert for an event, it shows on my home screen even if is locked. My cell screen lights up and shows in big fonts the event. I don't want that to happen, since I leave my cell in my desk at work and other people can see it.
I still want it to be show in my status bar.
I already tried the menu and change settings for alert & notifications, but it didn't work set "Status bar notification", still have the alert in my screen.
Hope someone can help me.

Strange, mine is set for "Status bar notification" and I only get them there. Dumb question, but are you sure your change "stuck"? Did you try restarting your phone after changing it (not that you should have to, but....).

Try going into your calender-settings-notifications and see what you have set for your notifications....i think you'll find the problem there
