I've tried a few ROMs, nothing was really amazing or special to me and they all came with some quirks that irritated me whether it be mystery reboots, mystery battery suckers, buttons/apps not working, etc... Functionally they didn't feel faster (screen changing animations were kinda cool though).

I think I'm going to try stock rooted again. Anyone else feel the same way? Am I missing something with these custom ROMs?

I have no reason or desire to back to stock. I'm having the opposite results then you are, having better battery life (after adjusting syncing) ,smoother and faster, all apps working just fine plus all the root only apps and modifications like power control in the notification bar among others.
If you having issues with ROM's are you making sure your wiping everything before flashing them if not this would be the cause of your issues.
Currently I'm running Perfectstorm 1.2 with no issues except a small problem with the dialer not showing up after a call is ended but I'm sure there is a fix.

Ya I wipe all three caches before flashing. I'm keeping root becasue I do like custom kernels and some root apps.

Battery life is one of my main concerns and with or without custom ROMs I get the same current drains or average awake/running times.

I'm flashing a debloated recovery right now so I guess I'll get a fresh look as to if it really feels faster/smoother on/off stock.

I didn't try Perfect Storm but I did try other sense based roms. I'd be interested in what CM7 has to share though.

There's a senseless rom called VIRUSrom that you can find at xda or if you google for it. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet but that would give you another perspective if you're interested.

You may want to try different kernels to see if you get better performance and better battery life. If you don't have setcpu purchase that from the market and you can over clock and under clock to help battery/performance.
Every phone is different so some kernels work work better for some but not all.

This is only the beginning of custom rom development. It will only get better over time.

I'm loving Adrynalyne's rom right now, and I never can see myself going back to stock.

um, where is 1.2? i only see 1.0 and 1.1 on his forum.

Im with you. Coming from the EVO, im having culture shock with the lack of quality roms right now for the t-bolt. Nothing against the developers of these roms but they just dont appeal to me. Either too much of this or too much of that. Im sticking with stock root for now until there is a rom I like out there. Im looking for a basic debloat without the extra animations, boot animations, sounds etc. Just a basic verizon debloat. Siggggggggggh lol:confused:

MikMik's Perfect Storm ROM 1.2 is FLAWLESS. I have had NO ISSUES. I have a photo, which I can upload for proof, of my device being at 35% at an UNPLUGGED TIME OF 10 HOURS!! (9h 58m 48s to be exact). Thats not even connected to wi-fi, bump charging, nothing...its the best ROM out.

Im very familiar with mikroms, it used to be my daily driver over in EVO land. But the port to this device isnt the same. Too many add-ons. I may give it a try though. Thanks for the recomendation

No problem. I haven't had any addons except the GPS lock. Its been awesome.

Is it even that easy to go back to rooted stock?

I thought DasBAMF was basically nothing more than a debloated sense rom?

Have you tried the PERFECT STORM v1.2 yet? It has the smoothness of an iPhone and amazing battery life. Also make sure you get setcpu and leave it on smartass. Helps a ton with the battery. I also have the honeycomb theme and I'm in heaven.

Im not too sure if you're saying that you got 10 hours before or after the rom ... What was your running time?

I guess I need to try a few more roms.

No desire, some of the ROMs look really slick and cool, and battery life is orders of magnitude greater. I haven't had any compatibility issues or anything, but I guess if you were getting mystery reboots or things not working that would be a good reason to go back to stock. I'm really liking VirusROM
