EVO 3D embarassed me

Am i reading this wrong or was he trying to take a macro picutre in 3D? yes i am. he said jokingly. LOL
I was about to say, 3D and macro do not go together.

I think he was setting you up. macro pic with low light. Maybe he is one of those iPhone conspirators.

This camera simply under performs in low light. My wife has the Epic 4G and the low light pictures are so good that that almost look like they are taken with a standalone camera and not from a cell phone. I deal with that limitation of the phone because of the other great features of the phone. Besides, if I want to take some night shots I'll just use a real camera.

I have absolutley NO problems. I have heard others complain tho so I know your not just saying it to bash the phone. IDK why it does that either but im hoping they can figure it out cuz that does blow. Honestly tho, if your only issue is the CAMERA feature tho, I could live without. :)

Wow, really, live without the camera? I know its not meant to replace a dedicated camera, but you shoul;d be able to take half way decent pictures with any phone that puts a camera on it, especially for the price of the 3D.
My phone has never locked up when taking photos. In my opinion the 3D takes great pictures in good lighting, but in low light and flash photos... Terrible, especially the green hue it puts on photos.
Blind loyalty, can't beat it.

Yeah the camera is pretty weak imo, there are fanboys here that would like to deny it but it's true. HTC simply makes subpar optics.

You are exactly right. Fanboys and their blind loyalty are irritating.

I can tell you that I don't "live" without a camera. I take tons of pictures. So are you saying you read the article and applied the suggested settings? I really think you should give it a try. The article addresses the green hue that some people have experienced and demonstrates how to eliminate it. Lol if the pros had the attitude that you shouldn't have to change settings according to conditions and subject matter then they'd be up a creek. They even have multiple cameras they use depending on the situation. I think it is just as blind to be given a solution and ignore it.

My camera has also been freezing a lot lately. Sometimes after the first picture.

It sucks because sometimes I'll get a really good one of my adorable pug, but then it freezes, and doesn't save the photo.

EDIT: See, adorable pug.

Your right, I should look into the solution posted & apply it since HTC hasn't sent out a fix yet. But you should remember that most here are not professional photographers. Essentially, the camera is really a point and shoot, which is exactly what it should be on a phone.

as a photographer, both pro and now a retired hobbiest....all cameras, even point and shoot compact or pocket cameras need to have the default settings changed or you will get poor photos as a result. I have not found one camera (P&S or dSLR) that takes perfect pictures under all types of light without changing some of the default settings.

I personaly love the canon "G" line of point and shoots. they are not cheap. they start out at $500.00 for a non pocketable point and shoot. you would think that a camera costing at least twice what a normal P&S and is twice the size, would at least not force you to change your default settings, but it does. people today will normaly change the saturation and contrast (maybe even the sharpening), then leave it alone for 90% of their shots. we as real photographers will never then leave the white balance set at "auto" when shooting indoors w/ incandesant lighting...because the auto setting is still not as good as the tungston setting, or we will use one of the floesent settings if shooting in an office.
many who use the "G" line of canon cameras even shoot in full manual. something you can't do with most P&S cameras. they do this just to get the most out of their image before using lightroom or photoshop to get a final image.

now it is clear that "some" of the EVO3D cameras are getting the green tint. maybe even most of them. many of them are also getting the lockups. I personaly don't use the camera all that much, yet I don't have such problems with mine. maybe it's because I realised on day one that I needed to bump up my saturation and lower my contrast on the camera to take better photos with it. who knows?

but in my eyes, a camera on a phone is just a tool. a tool to an end of a means.
the question is, do I want to take photos like everyone else that uses "auto" settings, or do I want to stand out and take photos that look awesome? personaly, I would rather controle the camera then let the camera controle me.

as for hTc updating this problem(s) with a fix, I'm sure it will happen in the next few weeks to a month from now...just be glad that this is not a samsung or your wait will be 6 months or so.

Same here. They exchanged my phone due to camera issues and now my replacement phone has same issue. So far no fix yet. Good thing is an ota update for evo 3d is going to be available on the 18th. Hope it includes a camera fix.

Change your white balance setting before you take the picture and you'll get rid of the green hue.

Lowering the ISO will help with the grainy pictures. The problem with the AUTO settings in low light is that they don't account for the Flash, no need for a high ISO when the flash brightens the scene.
