Was wondering what people thought of the S2 vs. the 3d. I want a phone with a really good user experience along with a great camera for pics and videos.

Each phone has its advantages and cons. I personally wouldn't get the samsung because I love HTC sense user interface and hate Touch Wiz. But in the camera department Samsung wins. I would get the evo but it's your choice.

Go for samsung. Better processor, screen, and camera. As for the UI i hate all that flashy stuff as it bogs down the phone. Just get launcher pro. GSII>E3D

That's the best part about being on Sprint. I am getting the 3d tomorrow, and if I am not satisfied after 30 days I can take it back which should be right around the launch of the Samsung within (sgs2) I win either way. Hahhahahha

have they even announced the SGS2? I know the rumors and name rumors but i have yet to see it even announced as a phone we will be getting

That's my plan.....but let's hope that the rumored release date of July 24th on the SGS2 holds up.

Both seem like great phones. I've owned the EVO4G since launch and truly believe that HTC Sense offers the best interface on android. Its much more polished and just seems to have a nicer overall look to it. I never felt it bogged down the performance of my phone. I actually used Launcher Pro and AWG (I think thats what it was) for a while and felt those slowed down the phones performance.

What has me interested in the SGS2 is the light weight, thinner design, beautiful screen, and snappy web browsing performance (seemed to outperform all phones tested against on youtube videos)

But overall a personal decision and probably can't go wrong with either one!

i was originally going to wait on verizon for the gs2 but i got sick of waiting, and i was never really excited about going with samsung. the gs2 is probably the better phone here, but i love HTC and sense and most of all i love having a ****ing release date.

The Samsung android phones on sprint have always been best spec-wise, but they still manage to sell less. The Hero outsold the moment, and also had a way bigger dev community, same with the Evo and Epic. Both the Evo and Hero had out dated hardware too. I'm not going to judge samsung because the GS2 looks pretty good. But the overall performance that you get with an HTC is way better imo.

The Evo had outdated hardware? Even ENGADGET of all places made a comment that the EVO 4G has aged really well.

You can't compare the moment and the Hero. The Samsung Moment was so bad that other person on my shared line had to move from that to the Palm Pre which came out over a year before it.

Wow, moved to the Palm Pre, he had to be desperate.

TBH, The GS2 seems like the better phone. And I say this being a devout Evo fan! The truth of the matter is that as of now, we have no idea what the Sprint version of the GS2 would look like or how it will perform compared to the Evo 4G. Remember that in the US, not all Galaxy S phones are equal. Last year, it was Epic 4G > Vibrant > Captivate > Fascinate. Add to the fact that Samsung was slow as hell rolling out OS updates and then all of them had an annoying GPS bug which I'm not even sure has been completely fixed.

The Evo 3D is out now and should hold anyone over for another year. The pros that the GS2 have over the Evo 3D are not enormous. Besides, I am confident that the Evo 3D will be a highly supported phone by both HTC and the dev community, as was its predecessor.

Yes the Evo's processor was outdated...do some research. The Galaxy S line's snapdragon processors were up to date and had some peole drooling, but in the long run the Evo still [erformed better and caught more attention

The Hero and moment came out at a close time frame so I think it is ok to compare them. The moment had a better processor than the Hero, the Hero was still running the same specs found in the G1, so it is all fair.....lol it was pretty bad though.

I think Samsung makes great hardware, but there support is so slow it would take ages for bugs to be fixed. Don't even mention how long it would take to get ICS or other future updates lol.

I have to disagree... The humming bird just flat out out performs the snapdragon in every way imaginable... Yes touchwiz is an issue, but as far as performance, its not close... My evo could never run a graphic intense wall paper like the nexus or epic without serious lag... With that being said htcs software for the most part is better.Software is what hampered the epic, but As I look at the gs2, it flat out trumps the e3d in pretty much everything. With that being said, Im still going to keep the evo, and see what the next 30 days bring. If no news is mentioned of the gs2,I will probably just s keep the evo, or possibly check out the photon.. For the most part htc builds their phones more solid, but samsungs hardware seems to perform better.

I do see htc still selling more devices, but I expect samsung to close the gap a bit. Both are good companys moving in a positive direction though.

I want to try to samsung GS2 but there are 2 things which have made me just order the evo 3d.. HTC kills samsung with updates... Froyo we got quickly and the same with Gingerbread... Also I dont like touchwiz.. And the support for the evo is crazy.. But the GS2 wins spec wise it seems and the thin design is truly sexy..

I think the E3D has more dev support, has a great solid physical feel, (straying away from the iPhone look) and sense UI is great. Outside of those three influential factors, I'd have to agree that the SG2 seems to be an overall better phone. I, for 30days will be PLASTERED on my E3D screen, if the SG2 comes out before my 30days are up, I may check it out :).

I personally like Sense better on HTC. Plus it seems they are updated more often, especially the Evo series. The first evo already has gingerbread. I think more people will by the Evo more and there will be more support from forums and hackers.

Just something you want to keep in mind: the stronger phone, without question is the GS2. At least in terms of raw power. But realistically, I don't think that many people will put that into full use, ever. I doubt most people can even put the 3D into full use.

It really comes down to you. I prefer the Sense UI over TouchWiz. The only thing about the GS2 that makes me consider is the better camera. But any pictures I plan to take that needs to have a higher quality, I'd take my camera anyways. I was debating for the longest time, but in the end I came up with the 3D just for the Sense UI. I don't really have any plans for mods or rooting.. anything like that. So that sealed it for me.

There isn't one "better" than the other, it's all on what you need in the phone and what you plan to do with it.

If you break it down and actually view it objectively the sgs2 is better than the e3d hands down. Now if you are an htc fan then you probably prefer the e3d simply cause of sense, and vice versa with touchwiz and samsung. I like sense much more than touchwiz but I have used lpp instead of both.
