EVO 3D screen vs EPIC screen?

My first android phone was a HTC Hero which I later upgraded to a Samsung Epic and the difference was huge. One of the things I loved the most was the Epic's screen. The colors are just unbelievable etc.

I know the EVO 3D has qHD etc but im wondering how will it compare to the Epic screen? My upgrade date is August 1 and I wanted to get the EVO 3D and give the Epic to my wife (so she could stop suffering with the Hero).

Could anyone that has had any hands-on experience with both phones comment on the screens?

note: i have gone to multiple stores to see the evo 3d screen myself but all the stores where i live have the phone off, with a plastic cover. You can only look at the case, no interacting with it...

coming from nexus s to evo 3d, I liked the nexus screen but with in a week I forgot how that looked like. The screen is more than beautiful.

After using the qHD Super LCD for a while now, when I look at my friend's Epic it looks rather unnatural, cartoony, and low-res. I don't really have any complaints about the Evo 3D screen so far.

I came from the Epic after 6 months and got my EVO 3D. I gave my wife my Epic. I'm still a little torn. The Epic's screen was beautiful with it's colors, but the sharpness of the qHD screen on the EVO is awesome. Honestly, you can't tell the color or brightness quality difference when the two phones aren't side-by-side. But when I see my wife's phone next to mine, I do miss it a little.

Overall though, I think I am happier with the qHD. It's just like a computer screen. Higher resolution=more detail, more stuff on the screen at once also. Go to a Sprint store and play with one.

I had a launch day EVO 4G then a few months back went to an EPIC and didnt look back.
I got my EVO 3D day after launch and overall i am happy with the screen. its enough of an improvement for me to notice its better. Still not as vivid as the S-AMOLED but its good enough for me to be happy.

If you can find a corporate store they should have a working demo for you to try.

My wife has an epic and I the 3D. I like my screen way better.
Looking at plants vs zombies side by side made my mind up. Hers is certainly more vivid, but as was said in an earlier post, more cartoony and low res looking.

I know pvz is a cartoon, it just looks more natural on the 3vo. Also I'm not making a literal resolution comparison, just saying it looks lower res.
Not side by side, you wouldn't be upset with either screen. I vote for the 3vo though.

The screen on the epic is very bright and colorful. The evo 3d is more defined though. The 3d is a much better phone now though. The speed is incredable.

However Im afraid I will miss my Epic's screen because I absolutely love it...

Before I make the purchase I would like to see it in person first and compare it with my Epic right there on the spot. Like I said, I have gone to many stores and they have the phones turned off with a plastic cover. As recommended by someone here, I should go to a corporate store. When I go to the "store locator" on sprint.com and put my zip code, I get a list of the stores and among them are the ones I have visited and I see no way of filtering the corporate stores only etc. How do I know which ones are? Dont want to make the trip for nothing.

Also, would really like to keep reading your opinion on the screen differences...

SAMOLED definited has more vivid colors and blacker blacks, but a 35% increase in pixels makes a HUGE difference as does the additional .3 inches.

I'm not 100% sure about this, but when you do the store locator I think the corporate locations just say "Sprint Store" and the non-corp stores say "Sprint Store by (Reseller Name)". There is also a featured full service location right above the map, that I believe would be a corporate store.

You could also call ahead to a Sprint store you haven't been to and just ask if they have a functional display model of the Evo 3D.

I went from my Epic to the Evo 3d. The Epic screen is better. BUT.... I don't look at my Evo 3d and miss the Epic. Only if I put them side by side do I really think about it. OTherwise the 3d's screen is pretty good. I was worried I would miss it but I don't. Can't have everything so the gains outweigh the minor loss.
