I have an EVO 4G that I love. It goes everywhere I go.

With the price drop to $299 I am really thinking about pulling the trigger on the Flyer. BUT....am I just buying a 7" Evo 4G (without the phone)?

Can I download all the same applications I download with my phone? Are they going to look better on the Flyer?

You can't write on the EVO...I have an EVO also. I bought the flyer for an ereader. It isn't a good experience reading a book on the EVO for me.

Most of them, you'll be able to download. Certain apps that require a phone/cellular stack (like Google Voice) you may need to sideload, since the Flyer has no cellular. Others that require a phone number (like WhatsApp, I think) may not be workable at all. And some of the apps will look kinda bad expanded onto the 7" screen.

The increased resolution and screen size make it much more enjoyable to consume content.

Web browsing, YouTube, and gaming are all much better than on a small cellphone screen.
And since the flyer runs gingerbread, most of your apps will run no problem.

If you're running a stock EVO 4G on GB 2.3.3? The flyer is a new toy. I have the EVO 4G and just bought the HTC flyer. The Sense UI is more up to date than the EVO 4G. THE EVO 4G runs sense 1.0. The flyer. Runs an enhanced sense 2.0 UI.

Pros:
1. More HTC widgets.
2. Access to HTC hub (this mean more sound files for notifications, scenes and other things)
3. 7" screen
4. 3.89 GB of internal storage
5. HTC likes (HTC recommended apps)
6. Runs more stable than the EVO 4G on GB.

The EVO 4G runs Gingerbread 2.3.3. All I know is that the EVO 4G sense UI resets to much and HTC needs to fix it. Now I can surf on the flyer without the fustration of sense UI resetting.

Root your EVO for free mobile hotspot and get the flyer.

The Flyer does NOT run OS 2.3.4, it runs OS 2.3.3. I'm not sure where you got a Flyer that runs OS 2.3.4.
There is not much difference between the OS versions. One difference is that you can video chat on Google Talk with OS 2.3.4. Please due tell where you got your update for OS 2.3.4 on your Flyer.
