Evo Alltel Flash no data

I have my HTC EVO working fully on alltel, except data. It has worked in the past, but only in my home area. Now, I land on the alltel portal page, wap.alltel.clearmode.com. https sites work just fine. Anyone have thoughts? The alltel techs are no help as they insist that non-alltel phones won't work on alltel's network. Any insight would be helpful, even if the advice is to just give up. Thanks.
